Proper socialization is necessary to turn a dog into a well adjusted pet that can get along well with people and other pets in any given situation. Socialization is one way of developing a dog into a good canine citizen that will be a most valued companion of the family. Proper socialization prevents the development of unwanted behavior and turns the dog into a happy and well behaved member of the family. A first time dog owner may wonder at the need to socialize the dog and how dog socialization can be done.

Dogs are social creatures but similar to humans, our four legged friends have different personalities. Expect a nervous or shy dog to react with fear or aggression when exposed to new faces or situations. A dominant dog would always want to control not only other animals but humans as well. Providing the basic needs of the dog is not the only responsibility of a pet owner. A dog owner has to undertake the socialization of the dog so as to have well adjusted and well behaved pet that will not be intimidated nor show aggression when confronted with unfamiliar people and situations.

Socialization must take place when the puppy is between 8 to 16 weeks old. This is not to say that older dogs can no longer be socialized. To desensitize an older dog though, a pet parent has to be more patient and persistent. The curious nature of puppies and the fact that young dogs have not yet formed habits make socialization younger dogs a lot easier.

As soon as the puppy receives a clearance from the vet socialization must be started. Grooming is the first part of socialization that will familiarize the dog to being touched. These handling exercises will prepare the dog so that it will not react aggressively to being touched by the vet, by a child in the park or by a neighbor or a guest in the future.

Taking the dog to the local dog park or enrolling the dog to an obedience school will give the pet a chance to interact with other canines. The dog must be introduced to as many people and exposed to as many situations as possible. If possible always take the dog with you. Entice the dog to respond well to socialization by using treats as rewards. All these extra efforts will be all paid up by having a well adjusted pet.

Are you bored with the aggressive ways of your 4 legged companions? With the right dog training aggressive dogs program that issue might be significantly reduced. Although aggression is a tricky issue to cope with, there are different ways in which the issue can be determined.

1 – Consult a vet - If your dog hasn’t had a history of being aggressive and beings snarling, biting or snapping at folk, talk about it to your vet. This unexpected change in his behavior can be a sign of a medical problem which wishes immediate medical attention.

2 – Determine the eventualities – Determine the scenarios in which your dog displays aggressive behavior and avoid them. A very important part of dog training aggressive dogs program is finding the reason behind the aggression.

3 – Make a behavior modification program - This can be achieved with the aid of a pro behaviorist. For example, if your dog snarls when you or some other person from your folks approaches his food bowl then you could be asked to approach an empty food bowl and drop some food in it. This way your dog will understand when a person approaches his food bowl he is going to get a treat and there is no need for him to be aggressive.

4 – Never punish your dog for behaving aggressively – You shouldn’t punish your dog for being aggressive. As they say, aggression breeds aggression. If a dog is punished for being aggressive, it may make him show more aggression.

5 – Be consistent and patient - If you want to provide proper dog training for aggressive dogs then you need to be consistent in your work in training him and stay patient, as dog aggression is an issue that cannot be curbed overnight.

6 – Socialize Your Dog - The most typical reason for dogs to show aggressive behavior is because of the shortage of their socialization when they were young. A dog will find it hard to trust people and other dogs that he does not know, if he didn’t have lot of chances to have interaction with them while he was younger. Hence if you’ve a puppy dog socialize him during his first stages of his life and you should not deal with dog aggression issues in the future.

Separation Anxiety is defined as a condition of extraordinary anxiety and panic ignited by the animal’s separation from their master. It really is one of the most commonplace troubles with a dog that new owners have to face. A lot of pet dogs develop this challenge to some extent while some suffer a considerably more complicated time with it than some others.

Possible Causes

A dog’sseparation anxiety is often caused by numerous factors. Dogs from a pet store or a shelter are more inclined to this because they have encountered substantial trauma by being separated from their mother at too young an age or becoming separated from their previous owner for whatever reason. Other issues that might be contributing circumstances are that they never have been properly socialized with other people or animals. Dogs are social animals that need interaction, attention and affection to keep them content and if you are separated from them and they are left alone for long periods they tend to have difficulties.

Signs and Symptoms

You will know if your dog has separation anxiety by the signals he exhibits when you are out of his eyesight or if you are getting ready to leave. Our dog knows by the shoes I put on that I am leaving and she is not coming with. Okee actually just goes into her crate when we start putting on shoes. Then again some pets start to become anxious, following you from room to room, maybe whining and becoming stressed or beginning to tremble. Some dogs will even try to stop you from leaving, barking nonstop or jumping on you. When you get home they are excessively excited about greeting you and will practically turn themselves inside out in a frenzy of attempting to demonstrate how happy they are that you are home. Don’t encourage them, it only shows them that you approve of what they are doing when the simple truth is they have an issue that ought to be remedied.

Things You Can Do

The first thing to remember is that a tired dog is a good dog. Provide her plenty of exercise before you leave. The more time you exercise, the more tired they get, the better. Make a diversion by giving them a bone or a Kong filled with peanut butter around 15 minutes before you leave. For puppies when you first bring them home and have acclimated them to their new habitat, I hope you say crate, you can put a ticking clock near their bed. It will imitate their mother’s heartbeat. You really should also be training them to be alone by leaving their eyesight for short periods of time. So they get used to not seeing you but knowing that you will come back. You can leave a radio or tv on when you leave. You can also do things that signal you are leaving but then don’t leave. You can act as if you’re getting ready to leave like jingling your keys, putting on your shoes and jacket, then sit back down. Or leave the room and come back in. This will help them to conquer the feeling of being abandoned if they know you will be back. If you teach them early on when they first come home with you, you can successfully eliminate this very common dog behavior problem of separation anxiety before it gets beyond control.

You have just bought the cutest, little puppy dog! You have taken him home and got him accustomed to his surroundings.

How you can paper train puppy!

But, there is one little issue. You have got to keep your pup inside or that large dog next door could rip him apart! Or perhaps you reside in a community, such as a city, house, or condo where there is absolutely no access to a yard or fenced-in area?

Clearly, your adorable puppy dog cannot use the litter box with the cat!

Right now you’re sweating at the thought of urine stains on your exquisite Persian carpet or a pile of poop on your high priced exotic hardwood floors! You can calm down, given that there is a solution!

Housetraining a new puppy can be done indoors by paper training!

Here are a few basic tips for simple methods to paper train puppy dog:

1. Put a couple of layers of newspaper in a place which is away from the pup’s feeding and watering bowls. Just after your pup eats and drinks, take him to the newspapers. Additionally take your pup to the papers, to pee and poop, first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. He must also be taken to the newspapers after he chews, plays hard, and comes out of his crate.

2. Change the papers after each time that the puppy uses them. Beneath the new newspapers, put a lightly soiled one. Your pup will be stimulated to go to the potty by the odor left on the soiled paper.

3. Clean under the papers with an odor neutralizer. In case you neglect to do this, your puppy will smell his scent on the floor and begin sniffing around the edge of the paper. This is a no, no! You ought to keep your puppy dog ON the paper and using an odor neutralizer will keep him focused on using the potty on the newspaper!

4. Clap your hands to surprise your pup if he makes a slip-up. Please! Simply surprise him. Don’t frighten the poor thing half to death! This will distract your pup and stop him from urinating. Pick him up and take him to the newspaper where you want him to go. Lavishly praise your puppy when he is done going to the bathroom!

5. Don’t go BALISTIC if your puppy urinates or defecates off of the newspapers. Don’t discipline him by spanking, shouting, or rubbing his nose in the mess! Bear in mind, your pup is just a baby. He made a blunder; he did not commit the crime of the century!

6. Do not use a product that contains ammonia to clean up after your puppy. Urine contains ammonia and that lovely familiar smell will invite your puppy to pee again on that exact same location! If you’re worried about permanent odor or staining, putting plastic or waxed paper underneath the papers might help safeguard your carpet or floor coverings.

7. You have got to be consistent. Put your pup on a regimen. In case you modify the regimen or let your pup do something differently one day and not the next, he will get confused!

8. Keep a close eye on your pup. Never, ever leave an untrained puppy dog alone in the house! Doing so is just asking for trouble!

9. Carry your puppy to different areas of your condominium or house and say “papers!” Then, carry him back to the newspapers. This will teach your pup to go to the papers when he has the desire to go to the bathroom!

Paper training a new puppy will take significant amounts of persistence, just a little common sense, and meticulous attention to clean up. With just a little work and persistence, your pup will in the end know what you need him to do. In time, going to the bathroom on the papers will become second nature to him.

That’s basically it for find out how to paper train puppy potty! Oh and one more point, have lots of patience.

Dog owners know that the pet vomits occasionally. The dog’s vomiting can be due to a variety of reasons. Dogs, like humans vomit if they have eaten something that is not accepted by the stomach. Dogs commonly suffer from upset stomach given the fact that these indiscriminate eaters would not pass up the chance to eat inedible objects and spoiled foods.

Nature is truly amazing as it has given dogs a way by which it can remove unwanted things from its stomach. Simply by eating grass, a dog will be able to remove foreign objects like tree bark, stones, plastics, cloth and other inedible things. Vomiting will occur if the dog has eaten substantial amount of food and has drank water quickly. The vomiting can be the result of the new dog food. Although quite uncommon, stress can make the dog vomit.

A dog that was taken to a new home where there are already other pet dogs will vomit. The situation becomes highly stressful if the nervous or shy newcomer is introduced to a large and dominant old pet. This kind of vomiting can be a passing inconvenience and normally does not need any treatment. The dog will be its normal self after vomiting. Owners of normally healthy dogs don’t really take the occasional vomiting of the pet seriously. Occasional vomiting bouts can be managed at home. The stomach must be rested for about 24 hours thus the pet must not be allowed to eat.

However, a dog’s vomiting may not be due to dietary indiscretion. Actually, vomiting is not a disease but a symptom of an illness. A pet parent should be vigilant and carefully observe the condition of the vomiting dog.

A dog owner should be concerned if the pet that is vomiting repeatedly also has diarrhea, is lethargic and has developed a temperature. A pet may be vomiting because it has eaten something poisonous. Repeated vomiting is one of the symptoms of internal parasite infestation and infectious diseases. A blood tinged vomit can be an indication of an intestinal obstruction, stomach ulcers or kidney problem or pancreatitis. A do that has been vomiting for 24 hours must be taken to a veterinary facility at once as proper management is necessary to save the life of the pet.

This morning I found this site that sells cheap prescriptions for my dog. Until now, I’ve been buying all my medications directly from my vet, which meant that I had to pay for an appointment in order to get him treated for things like fleas and heartworm. I wish I had known before that I could simply order his medications on the internet! I made an additional important find as well. I’ve always bought my pup both Heartgard Plus for dogs and flea medicine. These appeared to be the two that were utterly needful. In looking over the site, though, I found a product called Sentinel for dogs. Sentinel treats heartworm just like Heartgard does, but it was significantly more expensive, so I looked at the product description on the site. Sentinel kills fleas as well as heartworm! My dog can take just one product and get rid of both problems. This was an epiphany to me.

This is going to save me both money and ado. Sentinel may cost twice as much as Heartgard, but the even higher cost of a medicine like Frontline Plus makes it a true deal. Of course, I need to give heartworm preventatives to my dog during part of the year, so I’m not sure how this will affect when I give him the medicine. Can I stop it during the cold part of the year entirely, or does he still need some flea protection during that time? It seems like fleas, too, are only a problem really in the summer. I’ll have to do more research on the subject, but overall I’m elated. I wish a friend had told me before about this two-in-one solution. It’ll also be nice not to have to spread the sticky flea medication on my dog’s neck anymore. He always hates it and throws a fit.

If you come across to be looking for the top dog teaching available , then you very much will have a difficult time discovering best resource in one package . It’s true , dog training is somewhat a discipline , or an experiment in psychology for that matter. You never really know what you are involving yourself with and the dog that you are training could possibly possess rudimentary issues that you are at first not mindful of. Many factors are bound to have a mold on what you need to do if you’re attempting having your pett behave well .

Some pooches have a propensity for more violent behavior , for example; some dogs are tranquil by disposition and appear as if they would let anything pass them by . Take it or not, some dogs are more sympathetic and open than others. That should remind you of us as humans, doesn’t it? So the item of example here is that to have a all-in-one template for dogs in general, usually doesn’t fit the bill. What’s required to train a Golden Retriever, for example, it would be recommended to use a different set of guidelines than if you were to attempt the proper pomeranian training.

It’s not always the case , but mostly , using the differences between the dogs mentioned above as example, the Pomeranian might possess a inclination to be more stubborn strong-willed and snotty than a Golden Retriever . Golden Retrievers are often known for having the desire to please their owners on every grade possible, while the smaller breeds are usually more reluctant to do just whatever their owners want of them . One thing that’s said about the Golden is that “they’ll go home with anyone.” This is unquestionably not the case with a smaller breed of dog, for the most part.

The majority of Golden Retrievers have the gene for a kind, trustful disposition , so they are known to be wonderful companions to just about anyone . Some other canines are understood to be more doubting and therefore might be seen as aggressive animals, when the real truth is they are just playing to their fear of being hurt or assailed by bigger dogs near them. moreover, some dogs could be scared of human males and be entirely alright around women. This might be contingent on whether they were embossed by an abusive male owner, or that possibly won’t have one thing to do with it! .

So there are many things that might influence the behavior of a dog that it’s very hard to pinpoint the reason for different behaviors, or different circumstances in their environs . For this reason , it is recommended that everything is considered , when possible. Obviously we can’t speak to are dogs in plain English, it’s not possible Edit this text to know precisely what’s going on , but it does really cater to your efforts knowing that, as an example, training a Pomeranian will be different than training a Retriever , and a Golden different than a Spaniel , and so on.

If you attempt to get a cookie-cutter instruction on instructing your dog, this will not be sufficient in a lot of cases. It’s significant to get the right instruction according to the type of dog you are dealing with and then work from that point to determine why your dog is acting the way it is . I hope people understand that training a pomeranian dog is very different than Goldens or any others. They all differ form each other.

Once you understand the underlying causes of a dogs behavior, it becomes a lot easier to learn the proper approach in dog training.

Get a dog training dvd and learn from the best.

A big cattle dog running at lightning speed between the herd to bring a runaway back would certainly make an astounding impression. The dog is not only intelligent but it also has the courage of an exceptional herding dog. The square shaped muscular body is covered with short sleek fur that can be grey, brindled or fawn in color. Unlike other herders, this dog has a larger body but the size is not an impediment that cause the dog to be less agile. Actually, the dog’s gracefulness and efficiency when herding is unsurpassed by other herding dogs. The Azores Cattle Dog – the very rare breed of herding dog hails from Portugal.

The Azores Cattle Dog has always been viewed as an important aide in herding unmanageable herds of cattle. Back in the 15th century, Sao Miguel Island, the biggest island in the Azores is densely covered with vegetation. The sailors of Prince Henry have decided to take advantage of the rich plant life by bringing cattle to the island. In fourteen years, the cattle that were left on the island have flourished and grown into unmanageable herds. A breed of dog that is both intelligent and courageous is needed manage the cattle.

The Azores Cattle Dog also known as Cao Fila De Sao Miguel was developed from the Fila de Terceira breed. The crossing of this breed with molosser type dogs created the Azores Cattle Dog, a breed acclaimed for its remarkable herding abilities. The breeds existence was documented since the 1800s.

Because of the innate herding abilities, extensive training is not really necessary to make the dog learn its herding duties. An Azores Cattle Dog has the aggressive temperament that is considered as an asset of a good guard dog. The primary function of an Azores Cattle Dog is to herd. The aggressive personality is vital in the performance of its duties thus very little effort was made to refine its ferocious temperament.

An Azores Cattle Dog is a very efficient herder and a dependable guard dog but it is not suitable for first time dog owners. This breed would need a dominant owner that will be able to make the dog toe the line and one that will understand the special needs of this breed. This is a working breed. It is apparent that this dog would not fare well in confined spaces. The dog has to be allowed to perform what it does best to herd and to guard.
